im an idiot.

So yesterday i went over to the lobbs to hang out on a lazy sunday afternoon. I walked to the train, rode it all the way down to the bridlewood station where i normally take a bus from there to practically the lobbs front door. when i got the the bus stop the bus wasnt there so i called the transit number to find out how long i would have to wait... 15 minutes hmmm i dont like waiting so i decided to just jog up to their place. Now it had snowed over night and it was still coming down... i think it was about minus 15 but i could be wrong, it wasnt too bad though. so there i was jogging up towards the lobbs not really cold but my feet were starting to get wet from running in ankle deep snow with just street shoes on, and the blowing snow was kinda annoying... i was going along this one particular road which i thought was taking me in the right direction... which it was.. for a little while. after about 25-30 minutes of running i had made it all the way around this one road.. right back to where i pretty well started... i was not pleased. luckily just as i realized i had taken the biggest detour of my life the bus that i could have waited for (probably not the one that was 15 minutes away when i first got to the bus stop though) came by so i hopped on that and it took me practically to the lobbs doorstep. at least i got my exercise in for the day.

Monday morning

Weekends go by wayyy too fast! I didnt have a super crazy weekend but i definitely wish i still had a day or two to relax at home. On Friday Erin and I went rock-climbing which we both quite enjoy and do on a somewhat regular basis. After the climbing we ate a little food and went and watch "The Prestige" which is a great movie that i quite enjoyed and would recommend to all you out there. The rest of the weekend wasnt as "exciting" as i just did house work, lazed around reading (i should really think about getting cable) went for a run and generally just took it easy.
oh, and here's a pic of Erin and I at the Met last week... man that was a good steak.

Going to mexico!!!

I cannot wait for December. First im being shipped out to Houston for international BJ school for a week. I had a choice of three dates that i could go down to Texas for the course. one in early september, one in october and one in December.... hmm when would i like to be in Houston and not in Calgary. So mid-december thats where i will be for a week.

then of course is Christmas! all the baking (not mine but my mothers) all the lights and the sounds and the hussle and bussle .. am i the only one that enjoys seeing thousands of people in the malls and on the streets?

And then right after Christmas i'll go back to work for a couple days before saying "see ya later" and get on a plane to go to Mexico for a week. Im going with My girlfriend and her family so it should be pretty good times, im going to be soooo pasty white before i get there, and so very dark when i get back... it will be awesome.

Strangers and Steak

Living without a vehicle is going surprisingly well. there are draw backs, but for the most part i have managed to get where ever i need to go by either walking or taking transit. This weekend i was waiting for the train listening to some tunes when this guy... probably mid to late thirties and he looks like he wants to talk to me. Now usually the headphones protect me from people wanting to strike up conversations, they didnt work in this case. i lowered my headphones to see what the guy wanted... turns out he wanted the time. so i gladly gave it to him.. but he stood his ground and continued to face me. he then asked me if i lived in calgary, what i did for work how the winters were here and discussed how hard it is to find an apartment. at first i was pretty weirded out and wanted nothing more than the train to come but the guy was actually pretty nice and being new to the city probably hasnt talked to a whole lot of people... and i thought that i could be a good representation of the city and be polite and friendly. So Jose if you're reading this good luck with your english classes and getting citizenship!!

There is nothing i like more than a good steak.. and this weekend i had one of the best. 12oz of perfectly cooked (rare) high quality beef atop of a grilled portabella mushroom with kind of special sauce ... Seriously The Metropolitan Grill now has a soft spot in my heart.

hmmm

I know im a different kind of human being... i am special (not in the "rides the short bus" kind of way either) no one else is exactly like me. but does anyone else think of some really weird stuff that seems to come from no where. Last week i woke up and the only thing i could think of was the words "Love money and dinosaurs" ... sounds like a great name for a band but other than that, completely random.

much like this post.

Time to step up.

Now that i've made kris's "honourable mentions, but dont update very often" list, i think now may be the best time to bust a move and get blogging a little more.

Jordan and Kristen have come and gone... phew.. i dont know if i could handle that kind of excitement for awhile... i'll have to prepare for christmas. The way Kirsten and Heather got soo EXCITED was almost scary (its good to see that they love thier brother and sisters) but you'd think they were Rockstars or something.... well they kind of are.. i mean Jordan IS my cousin i guess that makes him a D-list celebrity along with Stephen Baldwin and Tera Reid. Anyhoo, Jordan, Kris, Stevie J and myself went and watched Jackass 2 on thursday. Good times! i'll spare you childish humour that we love so much but just say there was much laughter and a few groans of disgust.

Oh, a lack of couch update... there has been no update 3-7 weeks to go.... please not let it be 7 weeks.

part time blogger

i realized that im really a part time blogger these days. Maybe that shows how busy and popular i am that i have no time to blog... or maybe its closer to the truth of me not having anything too exciting to report. sigh.

Lets see whats new in Nathan's world.

Still waiting on the couch to get made and delivered. that means im spending much time on the floor in my place playing x-box. (not only do i not have cable i dont even have the antennae for the tv). I've laid down a blanket and a few pillows so its actually pretty comfy.

Jordan and Kristen are in town... i've never seen kirsten get so excited in all my life. Jordan i better get some of those Dino-sours.

Still working at BJ and taking courses every now and then. They are even sending me down to Houston. I had a choice of when i wanted to go, September, late October or mid December... hmmm when would i rather leave Calgary for Houston? yeah no brainer, DECEMBER.

oh, im also carless, which sucks i suppose but its a sacrifice i chose to save money. It kinda takes me back to my days of destroying cars when i was known as "transit boy" ahhh good times.

well thats all for now, i have to get back to work.
