Thank you for raising the important issue of the decriminalization of prostitution. Regulating prostution ensures not only the health of the sex-worker, but also of her clients, their famillies, and (apparently) the Allied Forces.
It's not just prostitutes that get VD. Regulating prostitution does not ensure the health of her, her clients or her family, it may be a step, albeit a step that is very flawed, but nothing but not being a prostitute will ENSURE her health.
Okay - maybe it won't ensure her health, but what it will do (among other things) is give her easy access to medical care, information about how to change careers, and above all, people will know that she exists. Robert Pickton has been charged with 27 counts of murder, many of them of prostitutes, and it was years before anyone cared or noticed that these women were missing. I am not saying that regulating the sex trade will eliminate all the risks, but it would be a massive step in the right direction.
(also, I mistyped above as prostitution is already decriminalized, and it is solicitation which is the crime, but I'm sure y'all knew what I meant).
