Strangers and Steak

Living without a vehicle is going surprisingly well. there are draw backs, but for the most part i have managed to get where ever i need to go by either walking or taking transit. This weekend i was waiting for the train listening to some tunes when this guy... probably mid to late thirties and he looks like he wants to talk to me. Now usually the headphones protect me from people wanting to strike up conversations, they didnt work in this case. i lowered my headphones to see what the guy wanted... turns out he wanted the time. so i gladly gave it to him.. but he stood his ground and continued to face me. he then asked me if i lived in calgary, what i did for work how the winters were here and discussed how hard it is to find an apartment. at first i was pretty weirded out and wanted nothing more than the train to come but the guy was actually pretty nice and being new to the city probably hasnt talked to a whole lot of people... and i thought that i could be a good representation of the city and be polite and friendly. So Jose if you're reading this good luck with your english classes and getting citizenship!!

There is nothing i like more than a good steak.. and this weekend i had one of the best. 12oz of perfectly cooked (rare) high quality beef atop of a grilled portabella mushroom with kind of special sauce ... Seriously The Metropolitan Grill now has a soft spot in my heart.

i only said it was one of the best... probably top five. The best that i can remember was this summer in West Edmonton Mall at earls or the keg, i dont remember. but the steak was AWESOME, had an amazing bluecheese sauce.

I have to say blue cheese is indeed gross. That being said, it does match nicely with strong flavoured foods, like steak. Blue cheese isn't so bad crumbled into a risotto or a creamy polenta. The people who enjoy it as is on a cracker or bread, they're crazy.

thats what it was on this... crumbled blue cheese and i did mention to the guys i was with that the sauce looked like either a risotto or a polenta... they concured.

I like blue cheese just by itself, DONT JUDGE ME.

Nathan,

For a great steak... go to Caesar's. It was the best steak I have ever tasted in my life. Lindsay would agree with this comment too!

BTW...I have not seen you out to church lately. Where have you been?

From a professional point of view, any sauce that looks risotto or polenta, or polenta looking like risotto or vice versa, is not good. The three should not look like each other. Risotto should be creamy with identifiable individual rice grains, polenta should be smooth and a sauce should never be as thick as the other two.
